What to expect: This is a two day workshop designed for anyone that wants to understand their own trauma or anyone that works with people that have trauma.
-Students, yoga teachers and therapists are all welcome and will benefit.
We will be approaching the healing of trauma using the yoga Kosha model:
physical body layer (annamaya kosha)
energy body (pranamaya kosha)
mind/emotional body (manamaya kosha)
wisdom body (vijanamaya kosha)
bliss body (ansndamaya kosha)
We will practice some movement, breathing and guided visualization/meditation to experience each layer.
A word from Garre…
I’m an 800 hour yoga teacher, Reiki master, breathwork guide and Kabbalah teacher.
For the past six years, I’ve been in mentorship with Rachel Bertner, a Columbus based energy and Somatic practitioner, body educator and trauma/addiction recovery specialist. I’ve taken many workshops about teaching trauma populations, and I taught yoga practice to teens at Residential Behavioral Centers and Juvenile Detention Centers in Florida.
I make this topic approachable by breaking down common concepts using the yoga Kosha model and sharing my own story.
Topics covered include:
– The neuroscience of trauma and how the brain experiences trauma
– The physiological response to trauma and how the body experiences trauma
– An explanation of the Kosha model and how to use each layer for healing
– What kind of poses and breathwork are helpful for common traumatized populations
– How to spot bodies that are holding trauma
– Discussion of touch and when to use the power of touch
– Safe language and options for creative cueing to fit to specialized populations in yoga classes
Please come in comfortable clothes and bring a notebook/journal.
