She says “At the time, I was teaching 8th grade and some of my colleagues were complaining of sore backs, hip and knee pain, and stress. It struck me that yoga could help, so we began gathering in my classroom after school a few days a week to practice. Sure enough, our blood pressure lowered, aches and pains diminished, and we found that the laughs we shared and the community we built helped morale.”
In 2021, she took a leap of faith and opened a studio space. For the next year and a half, she was able to fully immerse herself in teaching yoga and finish the 500-hour training program, earning additional certifications in yoga nidra, yin, swings, and restorative through My Vinyasa Practice. While the studio ended up closing, her practice remained, and now the door to teach is opening again.
Kristi’s teaching style is gentle and adaptable to the students in front of her with a focus on breath, mindful movement, opening the heart, stilling the mind, and letting go.
